High speed police chase kills two

Well, it seems that two teenagers died as a result of a high-speed police chase in Toronto Saturday morning, prompting Premier McGuinty to suggest the province's policies on high-speed pursuit should be "reviewed".

Will respect to the police, who I recognize made a tough call in doing a job in a manner with no other options, this is a disgrace. Toronto must be one of the only First World cities of its size to have no police helicopters. There are no guarantees in life, but we've all seen those videos from the States where the cops in the cruisers hold back while the spotters in the choppers watch a suspect's every move, in and out of the vehicle. A city of 2.5 million people — a metropolitan area of 6 million — we have the resources to maintain and crew two or three helicopters at least. Radio stations have traffic copters and planes... why the hell don't Ontario's major cities?
