You folks who don't want Iran to have nuclear plants, you just run off and have yourself a look at this:
Not the Country Club: Those were the days...
Hypocrisy in the name of military and economic hegemony?
Priceless.

So you believe that Iran is now seeking nuclear technology for civilian use?
As is their right under the NPT. Your country signed it and pledged to eliminate its nuclear weapons. Iran's acting within the agreement. The United States is not. Even if Iran should want nuclear weapons, well... surrounded by Israel, Pakistan, Russia, China, India, Britain, France, and the United States, who all have them and so far show no indications of negotiating their elimination as most of them are required to as signatories of the Treaty, who could blame them? Other than the most shameless of hypocrites, that is.
Ya, Iran, with all that oil, is really concerned about providing electricity to their people...
Yeah, see, here's the juice: if the one thing you have for which the rest of the world's willing to pay you big bucks is oil, you'd have to pretty shortsighted to burn any more of it than is absolutely necessary. For a few tens of millions of dollars you can build a reactor that frees up billions of dollars worth of oil for sale. Get it? No? Too bad. It's their country, it's within their rights as a sovereign nation and under the NPT, and it's their call.
How many countries has the president of the US publicly sworn to drive into the sea?
Oh, let's see... Iran, Iraq, North Korea, Syria... I think he'd like to get China on the list but it's floating the loans that keeps the lights on in Congress day-to-day, and it hasn't actually attacked Taiwan yet, so... ah, well. You're better off preying on countries that can't defend themselves and aren't white enough to matter anyway.
